Roosevelt Field Mall Shooting: Long Island Mall Under Lockdown After Gunman Shoots 2 persons Nearby

The Roosevelt Field Mall on Long Island is under lockdown behind a gunman shot two people hard by the shopping destination Wednesday morning.

The attacker opened fire inside a building nearby the mall in East Garden City, N.Y., around 10 a.M., NBC New York reported. The station reported that one of the victims was killed, although the death was not reported by other news outlets.

Police described the suspect as a 63-year-old Asian man who used to work instead of Safe Energy, a company located in the building, according to News 12 Long Island. He shot two Safe Energy employees, the television station reported.

The suspect followed by fled in a car, possibly a Honda Pilot, and drove toward Roosevelt Field. He was described as between 6 feet tall and 6-foot-2, wearing a red shirt and possibly a brown jacket, according to the Long Island Press.

The shooting prompted the Roosevelt Field Mall to get to under lockdown. At around 11:30 a.M., the mall gone the following message on its Facebook page:

“Per direction from Nassau County Police Department, Roosevelt Field is on lockdown and thumbs down shopper access is being permitted into the property doors by the side of this moment in time, due to an emergency inedible property in nearby East Garden City. The mall has not been evacuated by the side of this time. Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter instead of updates.”

Schools in Garden City give as well been affected by the shooting. According to NBC New York, the school quarter is not hire some unauthorized people into school buildings as a precaution.
