Going Out? Designer Lubov Azria Shares Her Best Tips for Dressing Up

Since fashion is about looking good and feeling beautiful, when planning your outfit for a night out, it’s essential to choose styles based on what works on you and your body shape. Confidence attracts good attention. I find that a statement cuff and necklace can elevate any look and I personally like to wear pieces collected through my travel that have personal meaning. I think it's important to make your outfit your own.

It's also important to note that things have shifted and it has become acceptable to wear pants and/or jumpsuits to dressy affairs. As women we have to make rules, not follow them. A classically tailored suit or a chic jumpsuit is not only a great alternative, but a statement worth making. If you're set on wearing a dress for your special occasion, however, remember that just as people come in many different shapes and sizes, so do dresses. Find the perfect cut and silhouette for your body and personality. Like Mr. Right, the perfect dress is out there, just keep looking! And, when it comes to accessories, don't neglect them! I like to add an unexpected edge to a classic look, think a luxe moto jacket with rock 'n' roll details or urban statement jewelry to turn a lbd into a LBD.
